PRIVATE STUDY AND HOMEWORK

Each student is responsible for organising her own study programme, though the School will provide a programme of assistance with study skills, during tutorials.

As a general guide, a minimum of five hours a week for each AS and A2 subject is required, in addition to lesson time. It should be stressed that wide background reading is essential for all sixth form study. Some of this work can be completed in private study time within school, but the majority will need to be done at home and students should ensure that they have organised their time well enough at weekends and in the evenings to enable assignments to be completed punctually. Students should be careful not to work for more than eight hours on extra-curricular jobs at weekends, which if carried out in excess, saps their energy and puts them under too much time pressure for school work and can mean the difference of a grade in each subject.
