WELCOME STATEMENT FROM THE CHAIRMAN OF THE GOVERNORS

I am delighted to be chairman of the excellent Governing Body for Stratford- upon-Avon Grammar School for Girls, whose expertise and enthusiasm, working together as a team, provides support and direction to the Headteacher and her staff. Our aim is to provide excellence in academic standards, but there’s more to education that that. It’s all about developing the person, the personality, the attitude and ability: the qualities that make us what we are.

Together we promote effective ways of teaching and learning when setting the school policies. We make decisions concerning staffing, curriculum, property and finance, whilst being responsible for setting the school’s aims and objectives.

For our pupils "the sky is the limit", as we aim to provide opportunities for all the girls to achieve academic excellence through their education and the provision of ever increasing extracurricular activities. Both of these enable our pupils to challenge their abilities in order for them to achieve their best personal potential.

Our emphasis is on every pupil as an individual, whether she joins us at the age of eleven years or at sixth form entry. Your daughter will become part of a lively, happy, small community, where each individual is known. We listen to young people’s opinions and acknowledge with great pride all of their achievements in any area of their life. We hope when they come to school they will believe in themselves, consider nothing is unattainable and that their aspirations for the future can be fulfilled.
