FOS
Friends of Shottery (FOS) are parents who work with the
head and her staff to raise funds for the school. FOS organises
various events for the girls and, whilst fundraising is top of
our agenda, we aim to have some fun too through the social and
school events which we arrange or support. At the end of last
term it was a great feeling to hand over £20,000 to the school
as a contribution towards the refurbishment of the science labs.
The girls responded with a big thank you to FOS in the form of
a folder signed by virtually every girl. Many of us feel that
this is what makes supporting FOS so worthwhile.
A very warm welcome to all our new parents and we sincerely hope
you enjoy your time with us at school.
Our AGM on 7th October was well supported and I’d like
to welcome the new members of the committee. I look forward to
working with you all, this year.
Our current fund-raising goal is £20,000, which will be
put towards the refurbishment of the Art Studio, as well as providing
screens for the Drama Department.
FOS has held 2 very successful
events so far this term.
Year 7/8 Disco on Friday 10th October.
This was our first disco of the current school year and was very
well attended. We raised a wonderful £850 – a record
for a disco! Many thanks to those parents who volunteered to stay
and supervise. Your help is very much appreciated.
Jazz Evening on Friday 17th October.
What a fantastic evening we had! We were entertained by an amazingly
gifted band, complete with incredible guest vocalists, including
3 of our gorgeous, talented 6th formers, Lucy, Fleur and Felicity.
Well done to everyone for making it an evening to remember! We
raised in excess of £1000, so a big thank-you to our enthusiastic
audience.
