ICT

The ICT department's aim is to provide all students with:

The confidence to use computers safely and appropriately, using the necessary functions and features of the software.
To be able to apply their skills, knowledge and understanding to solve problems and improve their capability across all areas of the curriculum and to allow students to develop particular areas of study.
To equip students with practical skills for both the work place and for their place in society and the outside world.
To understand the social and economic impact of ICT on the world.

Course Content in Key Stage 3

All students have one ICT lesson per week.  They are following the new National Curriculum for ICT which was introduced in September 2008.

Course Content in Key Stage 4

Currently our Key Stage 4 students have the option to study AS ICT following the OCR course.

For information about ICT at A-level, please click here.

Students who do not take ICT as an option will follow the ECDL course for one lesson per week throughout KS4.

Course Content in Key Stage 5

At Key Stage 5 students have the option of taking A2 ICT in year 12.  This provides them with an opportunity to continue the course they started in KS4 as well as enabling them to obtain an extra A2 subject.
