DESIGN TECHNOLOGY
• Part of the Arkwright Scholarship Scheme - two scholars this year
• Strong links with the Engineering Employers’ Federation

MATHS
• Code-breaking session in Activities Week
• Excellent module results with many gaining 100%
• Senior Maths Challenge
• Two students went on a two-day course for gifted and talented students at Manchester University

MUSIC
• Many visits to relevant concerts
• Many talented musicians to play with on a variety of instruments
• Plenty of opportunities to perform in public, eg Ensembles, Senior Orchestra/Joint Orchestra (with KES boys). Several successful musical events during the year (two concerts per term)
• Opportunities to lead/direct and accompany school ensembles
• Year 12 support at Year 7 Choir

VIDEO CONFERENCING - LAW (AS/A2)
• This new course started September 2004 and marked the beginning of a new type of teaching and learning by electronic resources

CRITICAL THINKING (AS)
• A new course, introduced in September 2004 in Year 12, to benefit all students in analytical and evaluative thinking skills, especially useful for prospective Law students but useful to all subjects
